Sweepstakes
For the 2009 and 2010 school years SoCal-LD.net offered a sweepstakes award. The award was discontinued in 2011.
The first, called the “Lincoln Division” will recognize schools who have the highest winning percentage in NDA L/D rounds held in Southern California. A school will be given a “Win” for each prelim win, one win for each elim loss, and two wins for each elim win. The number of possible rounds to make the percentage for this division will include the number of prelim rounds and the number of wins awarded in elim round according to the above system.
The second, called the “Douglas Division” will recognize schools for the most number of wins in NFA L/D rounds held in Southern California. As above, a school will be given a “Win” for each prelim win, a win for each elim loss, and two wins for each elim win.
The third, called the “Top Southern California Debater” will recognize individual students who compile the highest winning percentage in NFA L/D rounds at Southern California tournaments. Only the top five tournaments in winning percentage will be tabulated.
All three divisions will tabulate tournaments taking place during any particular season, beginning with the release of the annual NFA L/D resolution, and ending with the competition at the PSCFA (Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association) Spring Championships. The awards will be finalized and awarded before or during the PSCFA Cool-Off Tournament each season.
