Great Resource

Came across the Center for International Policy’s Cuba Program. This appears to be a great site for affirmative case ideas:

The CIP Cuba program opposes the current containment policy towards Cuba and seeks a policy that will be productive in terms of real US interests and objectives. Read about our mission, the conferences & delegations we have hosted, and our recent publications.

Right now, I’m starting to work on a Cuba Travel case…

What case ideas are you all working on?

Travel Ban Case is attractive, we have been working on one of those.

There also is a case about internet access in Cuba, and another one that we are discussing about unfreezing Cuban assets.

Glad to see the year is off to a good start Danny!

I’m wondering if people aren’t sharing case ideas because we can be competitors. I know we aren’t sharing our case ideas, but we are working on cases. There seems to be a lot we can do Affirmative-wise, and there are lots of generic negatives. Interestingly, McCain and Obama might be pretty similar in their stances on Cuba – so perhaps that kind of DA won’t go over so well. A lot has happened in Cuba lately, and it seems that many of the standard arguments having to do with democratic reform might not be that unique. Those are some of my thoughts on the topic, without getting into case ideas or strategies against certain plan ideas.

Well my school does not debate in So Cal. But in the spirt of sharing I will be running a military case stating that that the constructive engagment that should be used is thru the military. Giving Cuba back to the family that ruled before Castro.
