Some Good sites to start

Just got the topic and wonder where you should go from here? I would recommend before writing any cases to really understand what you will be debating. As you spend a week or two reading some background material the issues and arguments that are going to come up this year will feel more natural to you since you’ve done the hard work of familiarizing yourself with the topic. Here are some great places to go to get some good background information:

Council on Foreign Relations – Horn of Africa page Council on Foreign Relations publishes the journal Foreign Affairs which is an excellent read for this season.

Open CRS reports on Africa Congressional Research Service (CRS) are a great place to find background information. These are created for Congresspeople and are being made public by a few great organizations. This should really help with finding inherency cards and topicality definitions since these are what the USFG uses when making policy.

Foreign Policy in Focus – When I debated parli I found this site was full of great case ideas for foreign policy topics. Their articles are short and to the point. Here you will probably start forming some good case ideas.

Any other places you are going for background information? Please leave them in the comments section for others.
