here is an interesting thing I came across in researching biomass – it turns out it’s carbon neutral!
Biomass is carbon neutral – even if not burned it would still release Carbon into the environment

So biomass can also be considered to be a form of stored solar energy. It is the only renewable energy source that can be converted into solid, liquid or gaseous fuels. Unlike fossil fuels, it is fairly well distributed over the inhabited world. Also unlike fossil fuels, the use of biomass as fuel is carbon neutral. Even if, the biomass is not burned, it still releases carbon into the environment by decaying.
